Doccle’s first payment is a new step in the roll-out of Wero for e-commerce

Brussels, December 2nd, 2025 – Doccle is the first to be ready for the very first payment of an invoice via Wero, the European payment solution and successor to Payconiq in Belgium. This Belgian first marks the beginning of a new era of fast, secure and cross-border payment solutions in Europe.

This breakthrough for digital payments in Europe makes the move to Wero accessible to a wide audience — even for those who do not pay via apps on a daily basis.

Ten years ago, Doccle was a pioneer when it was the first to make invoices payable via an integrated payment button, at a time when this technology only existed in webshops. Today, the company is once again showing itself to be a pioneer in digital payments by being the first to process Wero payments for invoices in Belgium.

Wero makes paying faster, safer and easier than ever. Ten years after we made digital payment of invoices mainstream, we are once again setting a new standard. Our first transaction shows that Wero is already ready for the e-commerce reality at scale.

Huge possibilities

According to Doccle, this scoop illustrates the enormous possibilities of the new European payment standard. The implementation of Wero strengthens these efficiency gains and makes instant and cross-border payments accessible within a familiar administrative environment.

Payment can be initiated not only from the Doccle app, but also directly via a link in an e-mail or by scanning a QR code on a paper invoice. This makes the step to Wero for e-commerce including invoices accessible to a wide audience in Belgium — even for those who do not pay via apps on a daily basis.

Crucial step in roll-out

The Belgian platform realized the first in close collaboration with major bank KBC, payment specialist Buckaroo and the European Payments Initiative (EPI). EPI, funded by major banks including the Belgian ones Belfius, BNP Paribas Fortis, ING and KBC, is the company behind the new European payment application Wero. The company sees the realization of Doccle as a next step in the e-commerce rollout of their system in Belgium.

Invoices represent a major share of Europe’s daily payment flows. Doccle being first to successfully activate Wero for e-commerce in Belgium in a real-life billing environment proves that our technology can offer direct and tangible added value to millions of consumers and businesses. This achievement lays a strong foundation for another use-case in Wero's expansion across Europe and to become a trusted part of the day-to-day payment system.

2 December

The first full, official Wero payment within the Doccle environment for e-commerce in Belgium will take place on Tuesday 2 December in the presence of representatives of over 50 large companies. That moment is the formal start of the European introduction of Wero in invoicing processes for e-commerce in Belgium. That moment is also the beginning of a phased upscaling of the application. The broad public roll-out of Wero for e-commerce in Belgium is planned for the first half of 2026, after which the payment method will gradually become available to all Doccle users for invoice payment.
