Beobank launches Beobank Pay with the integration of Wero for easy, fast and secure mobile payments
Brussels, 30 June 2026 – In response to the growing use of digital services, Beobank is launching Beobank Pay, a new banking app focused exclusively on instant mobile payments. Designed as a secure, scalable platform and deployed within Beobank's own infrastructure, Beobank Pay is being launched with the integration of the European mobile payment solution Wero.
Today, mobile payments have become indispensable. One need only look at the latest digital payment barometer drawn up by Febelfin to see that the smartphone is gradually replacing the bank card as the preferred payment method for Belgians.
- Last year, more than one in two Belgians (55%) had used a QR code (or contactless payment via their smartphone or a connected device) at least once to pay for shopping in-store or online, or to instantly transfer money to a friend or family member.
- This strong trend is confirmed at Beobank, where nearly half of active customers now frequently use mobile payments.
- In 2025, the volume of mobile transactions generated by Beobank customers had increased by 20% compared to 2024.
Instant payments in Europe with Wero
To meet customer needs in this new context, Beobank will be integrating Wero into its banking payment offering on 30 June 2026. As a European solution, Wero currently enables mobile payments in Belgium, France and Germany, and will be available in the Netherlands and Luxembourg in the coming months.
Belgium was one of the first markets where Wero was launched in 2024, and we are delighted that Beobank is now offering our European mobile payment service to its more than 800,000 customers. They can now carry out domestic and international peer-to-peer transactions with the 55 million Wero users already active on the platform.
A constantly evolving platform
Beobank is leveraging the introduction of Wero to launch Beobank Pay, its banking app dedicated entirely to instant mobile payments. Compatible with both Android and iOS, the app has been designed for easy, fast and intuitive use, integrating all payment features on a single screen.
The first feature available in the app is peer-to-peer payments, but the goal is to expand its capabilities in line with evolving customer needs, including e-commerce, m-commerce and NFC (Near Field Communication) mobile payments.
Security, accessibility and sovereignty
Beobank Pay is an independent payment app, owned and managed by the bank. Developed within Beobank's own infrastructure, it places payment monitoring and the security of mobile transactions at the heart of the relationship between Beobank and its customers.
We are hearing more and more about European sovereignty in payments today. Mobile payments bring this issue of accessibility and service continuity to the fore. As a leading bank, our role is to meet these expectations and provide our customers with the best technology available through a range of simple, secure payment solutions. Beobank Pay fulfils this core mission and supports our ambition to remain a growing bank that guarantees reliable services for our customers.
