BoursoBank integrates Wero into its payment solutions
- BoursoBank, France’s leading online bank with more than 8.9 million customers, today announces its partnership with EPI (European Payments Initiative) with a view to integrating Wero, the European instant payment solution, by the end of 2026.
- Through Wero, BoursoBank is supporting the growing adoption of instant transfers via mobile phone numbers among its customers, thanks to a sovereign, Europe-wide unified and competitive infrastructure.
- This new free feature complements BoursoBank’s fee-free offering for transfers and payments, including foreign currency and international transactions. It will be available to all BoursoBank customers, including, for the first time in France, customers aged 10 to 17 subscribed to the 10-17 offering. Through this partnership, BoursoBank is contributing to the emergence of a credible European solution for everyday payments.
Transfers via mobile phone number: simple, free and instant
Wero is the payment solution developed by EPI, designed and operated in Europe. The solution currently has more than 55 million users, 72% of whom are based in France.
Based on real-time account-to-account instant payments, the service will enable BoursoBank customers, directly from their banking app, to transfer money to friends or between individuals in a simple, secure and convenient manner using a mobile phone number or an email address, without having to enter the recipient’s IBAN. It will also be available to teenage customers subscribed to the 10-17 offering. BoursoBank will therefore become the first bank in France to offer the Wero service to underage customers.
Free of charge and available 24/7, the service will enable BoursoBank customers, by the end of the year, to send and receive money across Europe in just a few seconds and without friction, using only a mobile phone number.
A comprehensive and free payment offering, anywhere in the world
At a time when payments are becoming increasingly instant and mobile, Wero is built on account-to-account transfers, which are set to become a standard, providing a sovereign solution that EPI aims to unify at a European scale.
A pioneer in offering free instant transfers to its customers since 2019, BoursoBank is committed to supporting the growth and democratization of this payment method. In Q1 2026, 88% of transfers initiated by BoursoBank customers were made via free instant transfers, up 5 percentage points year-on-year. More broadly, within payment solutions, transfers represent a transaction volume (by value) nearly five times higher than card payments, reflecting an already well-established use case, particularly for high-value transactions.
Wero will therefore enhance BoursoBank’s comprehensive payment offering, which already includes multiple free services:
▪ Euro transfers, including instant transfers, free of charge to 36 European countries and territories
▪ International transfers in foreign currencies with no issuance fees across 32 currencies
▪ Free open banking services, including transfer initiation from an external account without leaving the BoursoBank customer area
▪ Free card payments and cash withdrawals worldwide¹
▪ 100% online management of card functionalities from any device (changes to spending limits, exceptional withdrawal requests, access to PIN codes and card details, card locking or blocking of specific transaction types, etc.)
▪ A free virtual card creation service to better secure and manage online payments
▪ Compatibility with the leading digital wallets on the market: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and Garmin Pay, with the possibility to start using them just moments after subscribing and even before receiving the physical card
▪ The free Easychèque service to send a cheque letter in just a few clicks
▪ Real-time preventive and security alerts, more than 100 customizable notifications and settings, enabling customers to receive the right advice at the right time and monitor their transactions securely.
In the coming months, BoursoBank customers will benefit from Wero and will be able to send and receive money across Europe in just a few seconds using only a mobile phone number. For the first time, Wero will be available to customers as young as 10 years old. Through this partnership, BoursoBank is supporting the growth of instant payment usage and contributing to the emergence of a credible European solution for everyday payments.
The partnership with BoursoBank is a key milestone for Wero. As a pioneer in instant payments and France’s leading online bank, it was only natural for us to join forces to go further and beyond national borders together. With BoursoBank joining Wero, our coverage of the French market will be complete. Consumer enthusiasm remains strong, and this new partnership will further reinforce this momentum.
¹ Free euro payments and withdrawals. Free payments in foreign currencies. Foreign currency withdrawals abroad: 1 free withdrawal per month with the WELCOME card, 3 free withdrawals per month with the ULTIM card, then 1.69% thereafter. Free with the METAL offering.
