Nuvei Joins the European Payments Initiative to Launch Wero for Ecommerce

Wero already facilitates instant account-to-account (A2A) transfers using SEPA Instant Credit Transfer protocols, enabling users to send money within 10 seconds via phone numbers, email addresses, or QR codes. Designed to create a unified, sovereign payment system for Europe, it is experiencing rapid adoption in countries including Germany, France, and Belgium.

Launched in late 2024, Wero has already enrolled 40 million users across its initial markets. Further international expansion to the Netherlands and Luxembourg is already planned. Expected product expansion includes additional features such as Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) and loyalty programs, creating a comprehensive digital wallet experience for European consumers.

The collaboration enables Nuvei merchants to seamlessly integrate this rapidly growing European payment solution through their existing connection to Nuvei's core payments platform. Merchants will officially be able to accept Wero payments from September 2025, with pilot schemes launching in May.
