Amsterdam / Hertogenbosch - 23 June 2026 - Van Lanschot Kempen has become a principal member of the European Payments Initiative (EPI). Through this partnership, the wealth manager will introduce Wero, a European digital payment solution, to its clients via the Van Lanschot Kempen digital banking environment, with rollout planned for late 2026.
Our clients value ease of use, control and reliability in their day-to-day banking solutions. They operate across borders and expect payment solutions that match that reality. By joining EPI and integrating Wero into our private banking proposition, we provide our clients with a secure and straightforward way to make payments across Europe, directly within their trusted banking environment.
Wero enables Van Lanschot Kempen clients to pay across Europe directly from their banking environment.
The solution is designed to offer a standardised European alternative for digital payments, with a focus on security, convenience and interoperability, while enabling additional payment options over time.
By joining EPI, Van Lanschot Kempen aims to further enhance its digital offering and respond to increasing demand from clients for seamless cross-border payment solutions within Europe.

About Wero
Based on instant account-to-account (A2A) payments, Wero further streamlines payments in Europe by eliminating intermediaries in the payment chain and the associated additional costs. Wero already supports payments between individuals, and will shortly unveil payments to professionals (P2Pro). Wero has been live for P2P payments in Belgium, France, and Germany since 2024, currently serving 56 million users. For retail payments, Wero is live in Germany since the end of 2025 with progressive roll-out in France and Belgium throughout 2026. Major migrations of at least 15 million consumers are also planned for Payconiq in Luxembourg (by 2026) and iDEAL in the Netherlands (by 2027).
